2018 Ford Transit MR “Mag Blackbird”
With the constraints on new Transit van availability (two 2022 orders cancelled) we started looking to the used market to supply the base for our conversions. There we found this great condition 2018 Ford Transit featuring low miles, ecoboost motor, tow package, cruise control, HD alternator, and factory inverter. Check the attached window sticker for a listing of all factory options.
This van features our “mid bed” layout which puts the E/W bed forward of the rear doors. This allows for stepping off the back of the bed and sneaking out the back door. The back door is the quietest door to go in/out, vs. the slider. Also one of the biggest complaints of a E/W layout, climbing over the person in front is at least partially solved. We find this bed length works well for up to a 5’10” person, which is close to the interior standing height in the mid-roof in this configuration.
A forward facing bench seat with seat belts opens options to bring friends along for the journey. The bench seats converts into a dinette with a walnut laminated table, ambiance is provided by the hanging wood pendant lamp. Our standard kitchen provides plenty of space to store supplies, prepare a meal or entertain guests inside or out.
As always our cabinets feature a tough durable epoxy finish. This finish is found to withstand impacts, and climate changes associated with adventure van life and activities.
But wait, this van has a penthouse suite. At nearly 10′ off the ground (actual total van height is 9’2″) is a GFC Superlite roof top tent with sleeping for two and a small exterior deck at the entry way. An Aluminess ladder tire rack provides access to the deck/tent. Other exterior goodies include a Van Compass lift, RRW aluminum wheels and Falken Wildpeak mountain snowflake rated tires.
